Biophysical Society announces winners of 2010 CPOW Travel Awards

The Biophysical Society has announced the winners of its first annual CPOW travel award to attend the Biophysical Society's 54th Annual Meeting at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, California, February 20-24, 2010. CPOW, the Society's Committee for Professional Opportunities for Women (CPOW), has initiated these travel fellowships to increase the number of women biophysicists and encourage their participation at the Meeting. The recipients of this competitive award must be postdoctoral fellows and must be presenting a poster or oral presentation at the conference. Each awardee receives a travel grant and will be recognized at the CPOW session on Monday, February, 22.

The 2010 recipients of the CPOW Travel Award are:

  • Kelly Ai-Sun Tseng, Tufts University, "NAV-MEDIATED SODIUM CURRENTS ARE NECESSARY FOR VERTEBRATE APPENDAGE REGENERATION."
  • Patricia Santiago, Institute of Chemistry of São Carlos, Brazil, "ON THE THERMAL STABILITY OF EXTRACELLULAR HEMOGLOBIN OF GLOSSOSCOLEX PAULISTUS: OPTICAL SPECTROSCOPIC STUDIES."
  • Laura Jennings, Harvard Medical School, "PROBING INTERACTIONS WITHIN ANTHRAX TOXIN BY ELECTRON PARAMAGNETIC RESONANCE."
  • Stacy Wilson, University of Connecticut Health Center, "FLUORINATED VOLTAGE SENSITIVE DYES FOR SHG AND MULTIPHOTON MICROSCOPY."
